Bayer Corporation's paper colorants and chemicals business unit, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, has opened a new technology center in Woodbridge, Connecticut, USA. The new facility, a former Bayer pharmaceutical research facility built in 1999, has been upgraded into a 25,000-square-foot technology center with specialty laboratories for paper pulping and sheet forming, modern paper testing laboratories, and a print quality lab. The facility focuses on research and application development for strength resins and sizing and surface chemicals. The center is now staffed with 24 chemists and paper technologists. The unit's global application technology group is also based at the center. It supports new product introductions, provides product trial support, and develops applications for Bayer paper colorants and chemical products worldwide.
