Bay City Roller on drink drive charge.


BAY City Rollers lead singer Les McKeown Leslie Richard McKeown (born November 12, 1955 at Simpson Memorial Maternity Pavilion Hospital, Edinburgh, Scotland) is a pop singer. He was the lead singer for the '70s pop sensation the Bay City Rollers during their most successful period.  is to appear in court today charged with drink driving and other offences.

The Seventies pop star, who said he ``regrets'' the situation, will appear before the bench at Thames Magistrates' Court in Bow Road, east London East London, city (1991 pop. 240,474), Eastern Cape, SE South Africa, on the Indian Ocean. The city grew around a British military post founded in 1847. Its harbor was developed from 1886, and today it is a leading South African port. .

He was bailed by police after being charged with driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without insurance following an incident on July 8 in east London.

A spokeswoman for his solicitors said: ``Mr McKeown and his criminal defence team will be present at court when a statement will be made to the press.

``Mr McKeown regrets the situation and will make a full statement on the matter after the court hearing tomorrow morning. ''

The Bay City Rollers were a teenage phenomenon in the 1970s, followed by hordes of screaming female fans.

A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan police confirmed 48-year-old McKeown, from Bughtlin Gardens, Edinburgh, had been bailed to appear at the court today.
