Battle call for illegals.

CAMPAIGNERS battling for 50,000 undocumented Irish emigrants to remain in the US yesterday called on their relatives and friends to take up the fight.

Irish Voices has organised a petition and is urging people to step up the campaign as the US Senate debates new legislation on immigration immigration, entrance of a person (an alien) into a new country for the purpose of establishing permanent residence. Motives for immigration, like those for migration generally, are often economic, although religious or political factors may be very important. .

The bill could see penalties on "illegals" but also open the door permanently for millions of others.

Grant Lally, president of the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform Immigration reform is the common term used in political discussions regarding changes to immigration policy. In a certain sense, reform can be general enough to include promoted, expanded, or open immigration, but in reality discussions of reform often deal with the aspect of , said: "When young people cannot return home for funerals, weddings or special family occasions it goes to the heart of what is wrong with the system."
