Battle Royal. (Whispers).Royal Overhead Door Inc. of Mabelvale is suing its former supplier, Windsor Door Inc. of Little Rock, for $1 million because it said it is being forced out of business. Windsor Door has filed a counter suit, saying Royal owes it $420,000 in outstanding bills. For 30 years, Windsor was in the business of manufacturing and distributing garage and overhead doors. It had bought about 80 percent of its items from Windsor, Royal said in its lawsuit filed in Pulaski County Circuit Court. Royal said Windsor first refused to sell it individual components for overhead garage doors and forced it to buy complete door units in bulk. But Royal said it learned that competitors were allowed to buy individual door parts and openers in any quantity. In August 2002, Windsor told Royal that its credit privileges were suspended. Royal tried to get door items from other vendors but couldn't. "Royal is being forced out [of] the wholesale opener business because it cannot obtain any well-known brands at the same price as its competitors," Royal said. Windsor has denied Royal's allegation in its court papers. The case is pending. |
