Battle Mountain Gold presentation at New York Society of Security Analysts.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 1995--The following is a summary of a presentation Wednesday at the New York Society of Security Analysts by Karl E. Elers, Chairman, Battle Mountain Gold Company.

Battle Mountain Gold Company (BMG-NYSE) today told the New York Society of Security Analysts that its average first half operating costs and gold production are in line with beginning of the year targets and that second quarter gold price realizations are similar to the first quarter of this year.

BMG chairman Karl E. Elers told the Society that the Company is experiencing improvements, compared with 1994, at virtually all of its properties. The Company's goals for 1995 are several:

- Increase attributable gold production approximately 17

percent, from 486,000 ounces in 1994 to 570,000 ounces.

- Significantly advance the permitting process at the Crown

Jewel and Phoenix projects in Washington state and Nevada,

and support the development of the Lihir project in Papua New

Guinea.

- Complete drilling and other evaluations necessary to bring

known oxide gold mineralization near Kori Kollo, in Bolivia,

into reserve status, together with additional known gold

mineralization at Phoenix.

- Aggressively advance the exploration process on the 37,000 square

kilometers of prospective land held under concession by BMG worldwide.

Elers also said the Company expects to put into partial operations this month a new recovery enhancement system at Kori Kollo. The system, which is expected to increase gold recovery rates from the present 69 percent to as much as 78 percent, is targeted to be in full operation by late September. Total Kori Kollo gold production is expected to be approximately 335,000 ounces in 1995, with BMG's attributable share about 295,000 ounces.

The long awaited draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for the Crown Jewel project in Washington state is currently at the printers and is scheduled for publication later this month, Elers continued. Publication of the DEIS will be followed by a 60 day comment period, and the document will require approximately nine months to one year of work by the various agencies involved before the final EIS is issued. Assuming the above permitting schedule and the absence of legal appeals, the company anticipates a 1997 start-up of the 180,000 ounce per year project, in which it will earn a 54 percent interest. He added that BMG was recently notified that the project has received its so-called "first half" certificate from the Bureau of Land Management regarding its patent application for portions of the property.

Battle Mountain Gold's chairman also said that its 50.6 percent owned subsidiary Miugini Mining Limited (NML), earlier this week filed a prospectus with the Australian Stock Exchange regarding the previously announced issuance of free bonus options to its shareholders. The options, which will help meet the NML's funding obligations associated with its 30 percent ownership in Lihir, will be issued on the basis of one free option for every four NML shares held and are expected to raise approximately A$46 million.

Additionally, Elers noted that Battle Mountain Gold and its subsidiaries together expect to spend about $15 million on its broad international exploration program this year. The program, covering some 37,000 square kilometers world wide, comprises about 90 prospect or project areas. These areas involve various levels of exploration activity on its own and with others, in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Australia, Indonesia and the Western U.S.
