Batting highlights.

WITH only two games reported in last week's Warmseal Durham Senior U18 League programme, it was Whitburn who provided the highlight after a superb batting display by their two openers swamped Marsden.

The home team started well as Lee Henderson and Mark Thursby carried their bats throughout the 20 overs as Whitburn reached 177-0, with Thursby 66 not out and Henderson unbeaten on 86.

Marsden were never in the hunt when they set off in pursuit of the daunting target and they settled for 78-4. Philadelphia made home advantage pay when they defeated Durham City by seven wickets.

City posted 118-5 with Matthew Whaley making 69, but an inspired innings from Mark Emmerson made light of the task, he ended unbeaten with 78 in the book as Phili coasted to success with more than two overs to spare.
