:BTIOF), "BTI",announced today that its subsidiary, Battery Technologies Scandinavia ("BTS BTS - Bug Tracking System ") (formerly Dema Group) of Oskarshamn, Sweden has signed a Letter of Intent with the H. Landman Technologies Agent B.V. ("Landman") of The Netherlands for an exclusive sales and distribution agreement. Landman Group (www.oplaadbaar.com) is a privately held, leading sales and distribution company based in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands. It currently has rights to a variety of consumer products including batteries, chargers, transformers, and switches for the electronics industry.  such that Landman becomes the exclusive distributor of BTS products for The Netherlands and in return will market solely BTS battery products; eliminating competing lines, in favor of Demacell RAM(TM) and Toshiba.

Landman has been a factor in this market for over 50 years and has built its business around the strongest global brand names in portable energy and related products. In addition to distribution, Landman produces battery packs utilizing multiple battery configurations for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  customers.

Mr. Henry Landman, owner of Landman said: "This is an important step for our company, to align itself with Battery Technologies, and we're confident we can grow their business and as well strengthen our portfolio of portable energy products and accessories. Demacell RAM(TM) represents great chemistry that has broad application here in the Netherlands, and Toshiba's full-line approach to product development will positively affect our sales."

BTI acquired the Dema Group in May, 2001. Now operating as Battery Technologies Scandinavia, the business consists of Dema AB, the exclusive distributor of Toshiba batteries in Scandinavia, the Demacell(TM) brand of RAM batteries (www.demacell.com) distributed throughout Scandinavia and some parts of Europe, and the Demacell line of "Smartlights(TM), an energy saving and environmentally friendly line of lightbulbs.

BTI expects to release its audited Q4 2001 results on or about March 28, 2002 following approval by BTI's Audit Committee and Board of Directors. Those results will reflect on-going income from royalties and third party grants and contracts; and as well, will show the impact of BTS's business building activities. Mr. Pope said: "While the year end results are still subject to possible adjustments by our audit firm, Mintz & Partners LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol , we're happy with the momentum being created in our sales line from all the activities of the past 6 months.

A new format annual report, proxy, management circular and other materials will be mailed in early April in advance of the company's upcoming Annual General Meeting of Shareholders to be held at the Toronto Stock Exchange Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE)

On March 11, 2002, BTI relaunched its website under http://www.bti.ca. Mr. Pope commented, "We understand the importance of a web presence for a widely held public company such as ours and we hope that the new, more modern format will assist investors, potential customers and other interested parties to quickly and easily get financial and other important information."
