Battered striker in need of first Ade; Football's Mr Marmite.. Love him, hate him, you can't ignore him.

Byline: Robbie Savage
For the English footballer of the same name who was born in 1960, see Robert James Savage

Robbie Savage (born October 18 1974) is a professional footballer. He currently plays for Blackburn Rovers, and formerly played for the Welsh national team.

ONLY Emmanuel Adebayor Emmanuel Adebayor (born February 26, 1984 in Lomé, Togo) is a Togolese football player who currently plays for Arsenal. He had previously played for FC Metz and AS Monaco. He is of Nigerian descent via his parents who were born in the Osun State in south-west Nigeria.  knows whether his celebration in front of the Arsenal fans last Saturday was premeditated - and I'm not defending it or that nasty stamp on Robin van Persie.

But let's not kill the bloke. Why should Manu end up with all the blame when he's been taking dog's abuse all afternoon and then gets coins, seat covers and a plastic chair thrown at him?

Adebayor (above) deserves his three-game ban for the Van Persie incident and his yellow card for the celebration, but I think the FA should leave it at that.

He didn't leave the field of play, he was provoked by the fans and he was the target of some nasty challenges himself.

Arsene Wenger's team play beautiful football but are no angels. I've had his players - some of them in the current side - stamp on my foot when the ref is looking away or 'accidentally' catch me with a trailing arm A trailing-arm suspension is an automobile suspension design in which one or more arms (or "links") are connected between (and perpendicular to and forward of) the axle and the chassis. It is usually used on rear axles.  as they run past. They can give it out but sometimes they're not keen on taking it.

And Wenger, of all people, should know better than to joke about "99 out of 100 people saying Adebayor was wrong and the 100th is Mark Hughes".

The hallmark of a good manager is one who defends his players through thick and thin. And Arsene has done plenty of that himself down the years.
