I appreciated seeing this headline recently in a daily newspaper serving the Pacific Northwest. It captured the essence of a story describing the local superintendent's ability to overcome a series of stressful encounters during the past school year and his resolve to carry on with his agenda for systemwide improvements. The article suggested that while the superintendent was bruised bruise

 by some setbacks he had no intention of leaving for a less-demanding job elsewhere,

This month's issue of The School Administrator begins with an inside look at how five superintendents in widely different settings coped with the ultimate in stressful situations that in some cases included personal threats against their own well-being. These hardy souls offer some unusual glimpses into what it takes to bounce back from the most trying circumstances CIRCUMSTANCES, evidence. The particulars which accompany a fact.
