Battelle Wins $22.3 Million Contract for Army Sustainment Command Field Logistics Readiness Centers.Contract to Provide Quality Assurance and Materiel Management See: inventory control. Services at Key Installations ABERDEEN, Md. -- Battelle was selected Feb. 27 to provide Quality Assurance and Materiel Management Services for the Army Sustainment Command's Field Logistics Readiness Centers at Ft. Stewart and Ft. Benning, and for the Director of Logistics at Ft. Stewart. The five-year, task order contract has a ceiling of $22.3 million, with an initial period of performance from April 2009 through March 2010 with four subsequent one-year options. Battelle staff, supported by a team of subcontractors, will perform logistics verification and validation Verification and Validation (V&V) is the process of checking that a product, service, or system meets specifications and that it fulfills its intended purpose. These are critical components of a quality management system such as ISO 9000. in the form of initial, in-progress, and final inspections on thousands of pieces of Army equipment per year. The supported systems will range from small, power-generation equipment to large tracked vehicles, and will also include 35,000 to 40,000 pieces per year of soldier support items--consisting of communications, night vision, CBRN CBRN Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear CBRN Caribbean Basin Radar Network gear, and weapons.
