Batons, knitting and singing, too.

Byline: Carolyn Lamberson The Register-Guard

Perhaps it's telling that Christine Lavin's performance idol is Dame Edna.

The singer-songwriter, guitarist and comedian will mix up her genres when she performs Monday at the WOW Hall, 291 W. Eighth Ave.

"I wanted to write about really profound things," Lavin says in a news release, `but funny things seem to come easier for me. It's never been a plan; the work just leads me."

Her show, which also includes baton-twirling and knitting, will feature songs from her many CDs, including "The Runaway Christmas Tree Christmas tree

Tickets are $18 at the door and $16 in advance, available at the WOW Hall and its outlets: CD World, CD & Game Exchange, House of Records, Taco Loco and the Erb Memorial Union ticket office. Showtime is at 8:30 p.m.

There are a lot of "eclectic multi-instrumentalists' out there. Lindley - who played for years with the likes of Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon and Crosby, Stills & Nash - plays an array of acoustic and electric stringed instruments.
