Bathtub Seat Safety.


Created to hold infants in the tub, bathtub seats have been linked to an increasing number of drownings. The American Academy of Pediatrics The American Academy of Pediatrics ("AAP") is an organization of pediatricians, physicians trained to deal with the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. Its motto is: "Dedicated to the Health of All Children.  (AAP AAP - Association of American Publishers ), in a recent study, says that the seats give a false sense of security which may cause caregivers to leave a child unattended.

All educators, retailers, and anyone else that interacts with parents, must reinforce the idea that bath seats are not safety items. They must not be considered a substitute for constant adult supervision when children are in or around water.

Additionally, members of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and Johns Hopkins University Johns Hopkins University, mainly at Baltimore, Md. , I received my CPR Instructor's Certification so I could offer my clients CPR recognition as an added benefit of my services. It has always amazed me that hospitals (at least around here) require new parents to take a car-seat class before they may leave the hospital, but they rarely require CPR.
