Bathrooms to splash out on. Julia Dawson reports on recent innovations.


501 SWAROVSKI

Swarovski, world leader in cut crystal, has collaborated with German bathroom fittings company Kludi to come up with the luxury Dazzling Daydream bathroom. The world of the bathroom seemed a logical step for the crystal company to take: Swarovski think of crystal as the teardrops of the goddesses and water seemed a natural partner to their crystal. The bathroom is intended to embody dream and reality, the crystal enhancing the interplay of light and water. The Dazzling Daydream project resulted in two model bathrooms: the darker more masculine Passion (above) made up of granite, limestone, ceramic, crystal, glass and chrome; and Delight (shower fitting right), translucent and bright in limestone, crystal, glass, wood and chrome. The designs combine asymmetrical shower enclosures with sleek angular basins, lavatories and taps. The bathrooms come in three varieties, compact, regular and complex, according to according to

503 DURAVIT

The 2nd floor series from Sieger Design for Duravit is a new bathroom range affording great versatility and variety. The panelling comes in four furniture colours: Ebony ebony, common name for members of the Ebenaceae, a family of trees and shrubs widely distributed in warmer climates and in the tropics. The principal genus, Diospyros, includes both ebony and persimmon trees.  (shown here). Dornbracht has introduced four new rain panel solutions for both private bathrooms and hotel use, 'transferring the culture of rain from nature to architecture'. Designed by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1956. Graduated from Tama Art University in 1980. After having acted as the head of the American company IDEO's Tokyo office, he established Naoto Fukasawa Design in 2003.  for Boffi, this elegant bath is cast moulded for a particularly seamless appearance. Water is laterally supplied, mimicking the flow of a waterfall.
