Batelco to phase out telex service.

Batelco has announced that its telex telex: see telegraph.

International telegraphic message-transfer service consisting of a network of teleprinters. Subscribers to a telex service can exchange textual communications and data directly with one another.

"We have explored many options including purchasing a new system to provide the service. Unfortunately, the cost of a new system combined with the small number of Batelco customers who still use the service, has made this option not commercially viable," said Batelco Group general manager, Media and Government Relations, Ahmed Al Janahi.- TradeArabia News Service
