Batch weigh blenders for easy & difficult recipes.

Two new gravimetric batch blenders suited to different sorts of materials are available from Colortronic North America, Inc., Flint, Mich. Model UB 675 is the newest addition to the company's Ultrablend series, which is designed for blending pellets, regrind and non-compacting powders (less than 5%). They boast high dosing accuracy and consistency due to their vertical slide-gate design. The UB675 provides throughput up to 1543 lb/hr. It can blend up to six components, all of which are dispensed one after another into a weigh bin supported by a single load cell, eliminating load-cell matching.

Second, the new CGA Series (photo), which features auger metering of all ingredients, is designed for blending more than one regrind component or difficult and hard-to-meter materials. CGA-002 models can blend up to four components at up to 100 lb/hr; CGA-012 units can blend up to six components at up to 400 lb/hr; and CGA-060 units can blend up to eight components at up to 3000 lb/hr. A Mitsubishi PLC touchscreen controller allows three modes of recipe entry: as a percentage of the total batch, as a percentage of virgin material, and as a ratio-based recipe.
