Bastyr University President Tom Shepherd to Return to Private Sector.

, announced his resignation today, saying he will return to the private sector. Dr. Shepherd has led the University for just over four years, coming in as only the second president in the University's 26-year history. He will work with the Board of Trustees to establish a transition plan and maintain Bastyr's strategic initiatives.

In addition to California licensure, Dr. Shepherd will be remembered for his work to develop a 20-year campus master plan, which will include purchase of the 50-acre Bastyr campus. He also oversaw development of the University's new strategic plan and began the efforts to establish a Bastyr presence in California and develop a partnership with the city of Everett. Dr. Shepherd was also instrumental in attracting the University's first major donation, a million dollar gift from Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  developer Steve Bing.
