Bass Taverns awards Unisys $10 million service contract.

BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 22, 1994--Unisys Corp. Tuesday announced that U.K.-based Bass Taverns has renewed its maintenance agreement with Unisys because the company has met tough service-level standards for nationwide coverage.

Under a new three-year, $10 million single-source maintenance contract, Unisys will maintain all third-party electronic point-of-sale (EPOS) retail equipment in 2,600 Bass Taverns retail outlets across the U.K.

Unisys has centers throughout the U.K. that can deliver support to Bass Taverns outlets as far afield as Belfast and the Outer Hebrides. A call-out system ensures that all equipment is restored to working order within four hours of receiving a maintenance call, regardless of a pub's location.

"The ability to provide a constant nationwide high-level service, in as little as four hours anywhere anytime, is a priority to Bass Taverns as it protects its high standards of customer service," said Martin Wild, Director of IT Business Services at Bass Taverns.

"Since we purchased the EPOS equipment three years ago, Unisys has exceeded the high level of service required."

This new service contract complements an outsourcing partnership with Bass Taverns. Unisys develops and maintains applications software for the central retail system.
