The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. Cerebral Palsy cerebral palsy (sərē`brəl pôl`zē), disability caused by brain damage before or during birth or in the first years, resulting in a loss of voluntary muscular control and coordination. Athletic Association held its first-ever co-ed basketball clinic Noun 1. basketball clinic - a meeting at which basketball players receive special evaluation and instruction clinic - meeting for diagnosis of problems and instruction or remedial work in a particular activity for players with cerebral palsy who are ambulatory and do not use assistive devices. Springfield College (MA) head women's basketball coach Naomi Graves and head men's coach Charles Brock were the clinicians. The two-day event focused on building skills, performing drills, and learning strategy before a game was played on the final afternoon. The coaching staff was impressed by the willingness of the players to work and their abilities to concentrate and stay focused. Participants had to be at least 16 years of age in order to attend the clinic. Hopes are that basketball will become a more popular sport for athletes in the cerebral palsy classes 5-8, and that the clinic will become an annual event.
