Basketball: Yand is ready to Rock again.

Byline: By PAUL NILSEN

THE man who put the Eagles to the sword in Glasgow has warned he is ready to pile on the agony agony,
n severe pain or extreme suffering.

when the Scottish Rocks The Scottish Rocks, officially the SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks by sponsorship, is a basketball team which plays in the British Basketball League. The Rocks are one of the leading sides in the top-tier league, and the only team to be based outside of England, playing at the  clash with Newcastle again this Friday.

guard is not intending to take his foot off the gas when the teams face each other again.

He said: "After losing our first two games in front of our own fans we were very excited to claim our first home victory of the season against a first-class team such as Newcastle, who are definitely the premier club in this league.

"The Eagles are one of our biggest rivals.

"Traditionally we always play them more than any other team, and so I think the victory was also a mental one.

"We have shown the Eagles we can and will beat them on any given night and we will be coming to Newcastle confident because mentally we have won the first battle.

"That is so important for us and when you look at the history between both of these teams.

"We are already excited to have the opportunity to have a go at them again and hand them another defeat."

Yanders hardly needs a second invitation to be a match-winner, but he might have been forgiven for thinking Christmas had come early as the Eagles' defence went AWOL time and time again to gift-wrap the Rocks a worryingly easy victory.

He added: "I am a student of the game and take whatever the defence give me and the opportunities to score three from outside was definitely there a lot more than any others and a lot more than I have experienced in the past against Newcastle.

"Myself and the likes of Gareth Murray took full advantage.

"I also have to give a lot of respect to the entire team because everyone played so well against Newcastle, which is what you have to do if you want to get the win, so credit to everyone."

While the loss has shaken the Eagles, Yanders believes Newcastle will bounce back - but has also warned the Rocks are now ready to challenge their old foes for silverware He said: "Newcastle will always be in the hunt.

"Fab Flournoy does a great job for them and they have a great nucleus of a team.

"They will always be remembered as a top team in the league and one that will always challenge for trophies."
