Basketball: Bears claim Split verdict.


BRIGHTON Bears last night claimed their first win in the ULEB ULEB Union des Ligues Européennes de Basket-Ball  Cup, with a dramatic 91-85 success in Split, Croatia.

An 11-1 scoring run enabled the British side to establish a 71-61 lead early in the final quarter, and although Split twice closed the gap to a basket in the closing minutes, an 8-2 run in the final minute saw Brighton home.

Kendrick Warren top- scored for the visitors with 26 points, with team-mate Andrew Alleyne Andrew Alleyne (born November 13, 1968 in Barbados) is a professional basketball player with a notable career in the British Basketball League, where he most recently starred for the Leicester Riders.  posting 25.NBA: Minnesota 116 Boston 95, Indiana 95 Cleveland 85, Dallas 111 Toronto 94, San Antonio 78 Memphis 67, LA Clippers 109 New Orleans 80.
