(NASDAQ-NMS: BASEA BASEA Boston Area Solar Energy Association ) announced today that the third contract awarded in 1996 from McDonnell Douglas McDonnell Douglas was a major American aerospace manufacturer and defense contractor, producing a number of famous commercial and military aircraft. It merged with Boeing in 1997 to form The Boeing Company. was for the pre-production phase of an Automatic Target Recognition (ATR ATR Achilles tendon reflex, see Ankle reflex ) system for the Standoff Land Attack Missile The Standoff Land Attack Missile or SLAM is an over-the-horizon, all-weather cruise missile which grew out of the United States Navy's Harpoon anti-ship missile in the 1970s. Expanded Response (SLAM-ER SLAM-ER Standoff Land-Attack Missile - Expanded Response ) missile. This contract represents the first phase of a cooperative effort between Base Ten and McDonnell Douglas. A qualification phase contract is expected mid 1997 to be followed by production. The initial production has a potential of 700 units. The Automatic Target Recognition system enhances the targeting capability of the SLAM-ER missile.
