Base Ten Systems, Inc. (NasdaqSC: BASEA) announced today that it intends to undertake a strategic shift in focus to boost its overall market presence in the FDA-regulated industries, and to set the stage for a web-based strategy.

The company will realign its focus to three main activities: enhanced customer satisfaction, harmonized marketing of additional software products, and new technologies.

Commented Stephen Cloughley, President & CEO of Base Ten, "In the 2-3 months that have elapsed since our reorganization at the end of 1999, we have been carefully reviewing resource deployment. As a result of this review, management has decided to make the BASE 10(R) ME/CS Version 3.2 products available on a limited release basis only, and that a formal release will not be issued. We intend to assign our valuable resources to customer satisfaction and to the introduction of newer technologies, rather than to continue extending BASE10(R) ME/CS. The 3.2 release had been designed to handle both dock-to-dock large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing and sophisticated clinical inventory and packaging control. Considering some of the other proven products in our armory, management believes that it is in the best interests of the company for us to redistribute our resources to activities which are more customer focused and, at the same time, future-ready."

ENHANCED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

Many of Base Ten's customers, including those who have deployed the original PHARMASYST(R) and PHARM2(TM) products, can improve their return through some dedicated attention from key Base Ten technologists.

The company has initiated a program to provide additional resources to these projects, to ensure a higher level of success and to provide a stronger platform for growing the customer relationship beyond its current scope.

ADDITIONAL SOFTWARE PRODUCTS

In commercial manufacturing, BASE10(R) FS and BASE10(R) ME Version 2.3 continue to provide an incredibly powerful MES solution. These products are proven in the field, and FS alone probably represents the most widely used MES in the industry based on user seats and applications.

Just this month, a major manufacturer of pediatric vaccines went live with BASE10(R) FS, underlining its power in handling complex and large volume batch record processes.
