Key stat Zambezi Sun was a short-priced favourite to win last year's Prix Niel The Prix Niel is a Group 2 flat horse race in France for three-year-old thoroughbreds (excluding geldings). It is run over a distance of 2,400 metres (approximately 1 mile 4 furlongs) at Longchamp Racecourse in September.  but could manage only third

GODOLPHIN are warning that four-time Group 1 winner Schiaparelli will need the run as he makes his debut for the Dubai team in the Qatar-sponsored Prix Foy.

Won by Manduro a year ago, this trial has not attracted a horse of that class this time, but Schiaparelli won the German Derby in 2006 before running up a fourtimer, including a hat-trick of Group 1s in Germany and Italy in the second half of last season, for former trainer Peter Schiergen.

Unseen since October last year, the five-year-old son of Monsun would appreciate any give.

Khalid Abdullah will have his colours carried by both Zambezi Sun and Crossharbour, with retained jockey Stephane Pasquier on Zambezi Sun, who has not won since landing the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris in July last year.

Crossharbour, a half-brother to Rail Link, is stepping up in trip.

Freddie Head changed tactics on Avanti Polonia when she won the Group 2 Prix de Pomone The Prix de Pomone is a Group 2 flat horse race in France for three-year-old and above thoroughbred fillies and mares. It is run over a distance of 2,500 metres (approximately 1 mile 4½ furlongs) at Deauville Racecourse in August. , but she was rather disappointing last time out in the Grand Prix de Deauville.

The ex-Brazilian Light Green, who worked with Zarkava this week, was behind Crossharbour when both were beaten last time in the Prix Gontaut-Biron.

What they say Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Khalid Abdullah, owner of Crossharbour and Zambezi Sun

"Crossharbour ran pretty well at Deauville last time and is stepping up to a mile and a half. It will be interesting to see if he gets the distance, but he's a half-brother to Rail Link and is a big, scopey horse, so it shouldn't be a problem.

"Zambezi Sun ran a big race at Saint-Cloud. We've given him the time and he seems to be in good form."

Pascal Bary, trainer of Zambezi Sun

"I am very pleased with his condition and he has been moving well at home. I feel he is back to his best form and at the top of his game."

Simon Crisford, racing manager of Godolphin, owners of Schiaparelli

"He hasn't been out for some time, so we will definitely need the run; it is important to emphasise that fact. He will come on a lot for the outing and needs to get out on the racecourse."

Freddie Head, trainer of Avanti Polonia

"Her run in the Grand Prix was too bad. I can't explain it. On her run in the Pomone she has a definite chance. She loves the ground and I expect her to run well."
