men's team has had an excellent opening season of competitions with a winning medal haul from June to October.

The excitement began in Oslo, in the summer, at the Norwegian international event.

The Welsh team was lead by Barry YMCA high performance coach Pete Haysham, with YMCA gymnasts Clinton Purnell and Nathan Mullett were selected to compete in the squad.

The boys put in a fantastic performance in the team event which saw Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536. In the individual competition Clinton Purnell placed second overall missing out on the gold medal by fractions.

The results saw the boys qualify for various apparatus finals.

Clinton qualified in first place in the floor final but a costly out of bounds error prevented him from medalling in the finals.

He made a remarkable recovery placing first on vault and pommel pommel

The Welsh boy's wowed the crowds with some impressive skills and took the team silver.

Ben Dennis and Joseph Rowland went on to compete in the finals and Joseph did exceptionally well to win the bronze medal on the parallel bars.

Finally the boys wrapped up an excellent round of competitions with the Welsh Championships during October. In the under-10s, the Barry YMCA team consisting of Bradley Morgan, Llewelyn Brown, Christopher Webber and Jack Everest worked hard across all six pieces of equipment to finish second overall. Bradley achieved excellent rankings in the individual category where he finished second overall and first on rings and high bar.

In the under-14s Iwan Mepham, Joseph Rowland, Ben Dennis and James Elliott came together to finish first overall.

In the all around event the boys were outstanding taking first to fourth with Iwan as champion.
