Soul legend Barry White has canceled the first seven dates of his U.S. tour -- a double bill featuring Earth, Wind & Fire -- due to exhaustion.

The tour was set to begin Aug. 5 in Concord, Calif. Following his doctor's orders "Doctor's Orders" is the title of an episode from the third season of the television series . Its episode number is 068, and it first aired on 18 February 2004. Plot summary

, White will be admitted to the Scripps Institute Monday and will be spending the next few weeks resting at his home in San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. .

White said, "I'm taking my doctor's advice and taking it easy for a few weeks. The last thing I want to do is inconvenience those who have put so much hard work into the tour or to disappoint any of my fans. I hope to be able to give 110 percent as soon as I can."

The list of canceled dates is as follows: Aug. 5 -- Concord; Aug. 6 -- San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden ; Aug. 8 -- Anaheim, Calif.; Aug. 10 -- Dallas; Aug. 11 -- New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded ; Aug. 13 -- Detroit; and Aug. 14 -- Nashville. The tour now begins on Sept. 10 in Boston. All dates on the East Coast will remain as scheduled. These include: Sept. 10 -- Boston; Sept. 11 -- Wantagh, N.Y.; Sept. 12 -- Washington, D.C.; Sept. 14 -- Chicago; Sept. 17 -- Atlanta; Sept. 18 -- Greensboro, N.C.; and Sept. 19 -- Philadelphia.

White recently completed extensive promotional and publicity activities for his new recording, "Staying Power" which was released last week on Private Music. The first single, "Staying Power," is currently climbing the urban radio charts landing in the Top 10 of both the Billboard and R&R charts last week. Also, White's autobiography, "Love Unlimited," will be released in October on Broadway Books.
