Barry Schochet to Leave as Tenet Vice Chairman.

July 28, 2004--Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) said today that Vice Chairman Barry P. Schochet, a veteran hospital industry executive, will leave the company at the end of the year, having served Tenet in a variety of senior positions for more than 25 years. Schochet will transition his current responsibilities by Dec. 31 and then pursue new opportunities in health care investments.

Schochet, 53, joined National Medical Enterprises, Tenet's predecessor company, in 1979. He held a number of positions, including president and chief operating officer of NME's hospital division. He also served in various other regional and corporate roles.

A native of New York, Schochet has been active in industry organizations and lobbying efforts. He presently serves on the board of the Federation of American Hospitals, where he served two terms as chairman. He is also a member of the board of the Healthcare Leadership Council, as well as the Coalition to Protect America's Healthcare.
