Working through Brower Mechanical, his mechanical systems contractor, and with his designer Sue Firestone, Bonds discovered the plans being made to open Habitat's new Home Improvement Store. He sent a 40-foot tractor-trailer filled with building supplies, outdoor pieces, and customized interior design items to be sold at the Store located at 17700 South Figueroa Street Figueroa Street is a street in Los Angeles County, California. "Building homes is a great passion for me," Bonds said. "I love the process from start to finish. Habitat for the Humanity is a great organization and I am happy to be involved with helping to build a home for someone less fortunate."

Humanity's Home Improvement Store is a retail business selling surplus new and used home furnishings and building and home improvement materials to the general public. Items donated by caring and involved individuals like Bonds and retail businesses, contractors, and other organizations are sold at prices at fifty percent or more below retail value. Profits from the Home Improvement Store are used by HFH SB/LB to further its mission of providing homeownership opportunities to low-income families in need of safe, decent, and affordable housing.

"We are thrilled with Mr. Bonds' donation, especially just in time for our Grand Opening," said Erin Rank, president and chief executive officer, HFH SB/LB. "Our first customers will have the opportunity to select from some very special items and his thoughtfulness helps support both our homebuilding and environmentally responsible objectives."

Items donated by Bonds have been valued by Stewart Salisbury Appraisal Services at more than $108,000 and range from custom designed objects such as marble vanity tops, to closet organizers, oak curios, wall units and shelving, building materials Building materials used in the construction industry to create .
