Barry Bates, Nationally Recognized Automated Valuation Expert, Joins Clear Capital.

TRUCKEE, Calif. -- Clear Capital has appointed Barry Bates, a nationally recognized secondary market and automated valuation expert, as the company's vice president of portfolio due diligence.

Bates joins Clear Capital, a proven and reliable provider of loan valuation outsourcing, after acquiring years of experience in commercial and residential real estate valuation and analysis. His specialty is automated valuation models (AVMs), a good fit for Clear Capital, which is launching a line of multiple AVM-based valuation products.

Clear Capital brought Bates on board to help reconcile and research property values within appraisals, BPOs, automated valuation models (AVMs) and other valuation products. He will assist with loan tie-out negotiations for customers, and will work with the product development team in order to develop new products and improve existing ones. Bates also will assist in developing and implementing methods for testing the effectiveness and accuracy of valuation products.

Bates is a well-known figure in the industry with a 30-year history, most recently serving as Property Valuation Manager for Morgan Stanley (Acquisitions for RMBS/ABS), in New York City and Boca Raton, Florida. His prior positions include Vice President and Chief Appraiser of Commerce Security Bank, Sacramento; Vice President and Regional Chief Appraiser, Wells Fargo REIG, Sacramento; and Vice President and Director of Appraisal, Ameriquest Mortgage, Orange. In addition, Bates was RVP for National Accounts, First American Real Estate Solutions, Anaheim; a Collateral Risk Analyst / "Tie-Out" Negotiator at Hansen Quality Loan Services, San Diego; and helped create the property valuations department as Property Valuation Manager at Countrywide Securities, Calabasas Hills.

Bates created the first 100% paperless appraisal department for Wells Fargo and developed and implemented a Lotus Notes(R) vendor management and review application. In Lotus Notes(R), he developed and implemented a Collateral Review Referral Matrix application; implemented an online certification exam with immediate scoring; and implemented ValueTracker, a valuation ordering/tracking application.

In addition to accumulating vast knowledge about real estate, Bates spent 11 years in the U.S. military, with assignments in the U.S. Army intelligence, the National Security Administration (NSA) and the Pentagon.
