Barry Averill Assumes Responsibilities for PHS Health Plans' Operations.

"For quite some time, Barry has successfully overseen the day-to-day operations of our health plans in the Northeast," said Cora Tellez, president of Health Net, Inc.'s Health Plans Division. "Over the last several months, Barry has taken on additional responsibilities and has proven himself a strong leader. I am confident that Barry will continue his good work and lead our health plans in the East with great distinction and success in 2001 and beyond."

With this recent appointment, Averill will assume most of Karen Coughlin's responsibilities in the Northeast region. Coughlin, who passed away suddenly on November 29, 2000, served as chief executive officer of PHS Health Plans for nearly two years.

PHS Health Plans also announced that it is now part of Health Net, Inc.'s Health Plans Division led by Cora Tellez. The Health Plans Division includes health plans in Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania.
