Barry's Jewelers announces key executive appointments in finance, management information systems.


MONROVIA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 1996--Barry's Jewelers Inc. (NASDAQ/NM:BARY) Friday announced two key appointments to its executive management team, naming Daniel Felsenthal vice president of finance and Stanley Stanley, town (1991 pop. 1,557), capital of the Falkland Islands, S Atlantic Ocean, on East Falkland island. It is the main port and trading center of the islands. The name is sometimes written as Port Stanley.  A. Kelley vice president of management information systems.

Felsenthal fills a new position and will report directly to Thomas S. Liston, vice chairman and chief financial officer. Kelley also reports to Liston and replaces Delmar W. Stuermer, who resigned to pursue other business interests.

Felsenthal's career includes 18 years of senior financial- management experience, more than half of it with companies engaged in retailing. He most recently served as corporate controller of Quarterdeck (Quarterdeck Corporation, Marina del Rey, CA) A pioneering software company, founded in 1983, that offered a variety of utilities, diagnostics, connectivity and Internet products for the PC and Macintosh.  Corp., a developer, manufacturer and marketer of software for personal computers.

Kelley brings more than 15 years of advanced information- technology experience to Barry's. Most recently, he served as vice president of information technology with National Automotive and Casualty Insurance Co., a California-based property and casualty underwriter underwriter n. a company or person which/who underwrites an insurance policy, issue of corporate securities, business, or project.  Kelley also will play a key role in helping Barry's reach the next stage in its development,'' Bridel continued. ``As we grow and retailing becomes even more competitive than it is today, it will become increasingly important to have at hand the most advanced, up-to-date sales, inventory and other data available.
