Savitz joined Barron's as a staff writer from the Dow Jones News Service in 1988. He was named mutual funds editor in January 1994.

Leslie Norton, a mutual funds columnist columnist, the writer of an essay appearing regularly in a newspaper or periodical, usually under a constant heading. Although originally humorous, the column in many cases has supplanted the editorial for authoritative opinions on world problems. , succeeds Savitz as mutual funds editor. Norton joined Barron's as a staff writer in 1993.
