, BARRW) announced today that it has been awarded a $700,000 research and development grant by the Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), component of the U.S. Department of Transportation that sets standards for the air-worthiness of all civilian aircraft, inspects and licenses them, and regulates civilian and military air traffic through its air traffic control  ("FAA") for the design of an automated luggage explosives detection system utilizing Barringer's trace detection technology. The initial design phase under the grant is scheduled to be completed in ten months.
