Barringer backlog at record high with order for seven drug detection systems from the US Coast Guard.

) today announced that it has received an order for seven (7) of its Model 400 IONSCAN(R) drug detectors and related accessories from the United States Coast Guard United States Coast Guard

U.S. military service that enforces maritime laws. It is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security; in wartime it functions as part of the U.S. Navy. The Coast Guard enforces federal laws on the high seas and waters within U.S.
 for its anti-drug operations.

The equipment is expected to be deployed in the continuing effort to interdict interdict (ĭn`tərdĭkt), ecclesiastical censure notably used in the Roman Catholic Church, especially in the Middle Ages. When a parish, state, or nation is placed under the interdict no public church ceremony may take place, only certain  the flow of illegal drugs into the United States.

The U.S. Coast Guard is one of the company's major customers for the IONSCAN(R) equipment.

This order raises Barringer's order backlog for its IONSCAN(R) drug and explosives detection units to a record high 26 units. At this time last year, the company's backlog was insignificant. Included in the backlog are units to be delivered under the previously announced European Passenger Service Ltd. contract award as well as new orders for delivery into the civil aviation market. It is anticipated that the majority of the backlog will be delivered in the second quarter.
