Net income for the first quarter was $189,000, or $0.05 per
share, on sales of $2,354,000 versus a net loss of $368,000, or
$0.14 per share, on sales of $1,328,000 for the same period last
year.
Stanley Binder, the company's chairman and chief executive
officer, stated that "the results for the quarter were particularly
gratifying as the Company's current Model 400 IONSCAN(R) gains
greater acceptance in the market place. As previously announced,
the increasing acceptance of IONSCAN(R) for trace explosives
detection in civil aviation security and the recently announced
contract for European rail service security evidence the acceptance
of our products to a broader market. It is now our belief
IONSCAN(R) is the world's leading instrument for both drug
interdiction and anti-terrorist explosives detection."
