Barringer Technologies Receives Orders Aggregating $1.1 Million From Customs Agencies.

Barringer Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: BARR), the world's leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of trace drug and explosive detection equipment today announced that it has received orders from various Customs and Border Patrol agencies for its IONSCAN(R) and SABRE trace narcotic detectors valued at approximately $1,100,000. Deliveries have begun and will be completed by the conclusion of the first quarter, which ends on March 31, 2000.

Mr. Kenneth Wood, President and COO of Barringer Technologies, said, "These orders come in the wake of substantial demonstrated success of our IONSCAN trace detection capability in drug seizure activity. In the last few years, the United States Coast Guard, with over 60 IONSCAN platforms in its fleet, has recorded seizures in excess of $3.5 billion of cocaine in operations utilizing the IONSCAN. Australia Customs, with nearly 50 IONSCANs in operation, has used the IONSCAN to detect illegal narcotics hidden in items such as metal shafts, computer monitors, and bicycles. Canada Customs has increased its IONSCAN base to over 40 units, and reports similar success working at ports of entry and border crossings. These orders also include our new handheld SABRE detector. We believe the SABRE will make a substantial impact in federal, state and local law enforcement efforts in the drug interdiction area. With its portability, functionality and affordable price, we believe the SABRE will also open new market opportunities in the local law enforcement area. We are currently increasing our sales staff to accommodate the increasing activity in this marketplace."
