Kinver, 48, has been appointed Executive Vice President, Operations, effective September 9, 2003, and will considerably strengthen the Company's operations management team. Mr. Kinver is well qualified to assume his new responsibilities and take a key leadership role for Barrick, having worked in senior management positions at major international mining companies during a 27-year career. Most recently, he was Divisional Director, Western Division for Anglo American Platinum plc in South Africa. In that position he was in charge of one of the world's largest platinum operations, with both underground and surface mines. Prior to that Mr. Kinver was Managing Director, for the West African Operations in Mali of Randgold & Exploration Company Limited. Earlier in his career, Mr. Kinver worked for Ashanti Gold, Oman State Mining Company and Goldfields n. 1. Parnell Appointed Communications/Investor Relations Executive Barrick also announced the appointment of Lawrence J. Parnell as Senior Vice President, Communications and Investor Relations. In this new position, Mr. Parnell will provide strategic leadership to Barrick's global communications programs for investors, the media and employees.
