 received an honorable mention from the New Jersey Concrete & Aggregate Association for its work on two high-profile construction projects. Barrett Builders was recognized for its development of Half Moon Harbour, a luxury apartment complex on the Hudson River Hudson River

In its Jersey City project, Barrett Builders' innovative use of concrete in the storage building's tilt-up construction earned the Association's approval. Not widely used on the East Coast, concrete tilt-up construction affords speed of construction, low maintenance and security, making it the method of choice for industrial buildings elsewhere in the country. In addition, the site cast process allowed for the economical integration of decorative elements into the face of the concrete panels.

Half Moon Harbour is a 12-story luxury high-rise located on River Road in North Bergen, N.J. Barrett Builders completed Phase 1 of the project, which features 176 spacious apartments, in September 2001. A second phase scheduled to start in 2003 will include 331 units.

In December 2001, Barrett Builders completed a 137,000 SF frozen food warehouse/corporate office for Preferred Freezer Services of Jersey City, Inc. Located at the 50-acre Greenville Yards industrial development in Jersey City, Preferred's Zero-5[degrees] freezer facility showcases leading-edge storage technology -- including a 44-foot ceiling height -- and is one of the most energy efficient warehouses of its kind available today.

Barrett recently began construction of its third building at Greenville Yards: a 65,000 SF warehouse and office facility for a subsidiary of Preferred -- MCST MCST Minimum Cost Spanning Tree
