America is Indian Country is a compilation of five years of editorials (unsigned) and "Perspectives" (signed) centered around ten topics of importance to the tribal nations such as tribal sovereignty, American justice American Justice is an hour-long criminal justice program on the cable channel A&E Network, hosted by Bill Kurtis. The show features interesting or notable cases, such as the Scarsdale Diet doctor murder, the Hillside Stranglers, Selena Murder of a Star, Matthew Shepard, or the , politics, the media and ecology. For each topic there are six to eight editorials arranged chronologically from 2000 to 2004 followed by one to four "Perspectives," which amount to op-ed pieces. Brief biographies of all contributors and their tribal affiliations are included. The individual readings, therefore, are fairly brief, but they are nonetheless powerful, expressing strongly held and carefully focused views that seek to inform and coordinate Indian opinion The Indian Opinion was a newspaper established by Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi. The publication was an important tool for the political movement led by Gandhi and the Natal Indian Congress to fight racial discrimination and win civil rights for the Indian immigrant community in and action across tribal nation lines. The non-Native American reader may want to concentrate on one issue at a time rather than approach the book as a whole, but this is an invaluable resource for all students of American history and sociology.
