Barracuda Spam Firewall Expands Feature Set and Functionality with Latest Firmware Upgrade.

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Barracuda Networks, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class spam firewall solutions, today announced the immediate deployment of firmware version 3.0 for its entire Barracuda Spam Firewall product line. This firmware provides several advanced features including interface localization, cluster synchronization, and Sender ID Framework support.

Firmware 3.0 the Barracuda Spam Firewall GUI (Graphical User Interface) will now fully support eight languages including Japanese, French, Chinese, German, and Spanish, as well as several multi-byte languages. The Barracuda Spam Firewall will also recognize and filter spam written in these languages.

New cluster synchronization ensures high availability and ease of administration of the Barracuda Spam Firewall. This feature also allows the user to make changes on one master machine and have those changes propagate to all other Barracuda Spam Firewall units automatically.

Other advanced features included with firmware version 3.0 include:

--Alias Linking: Using LDAP to automatically determine if multiple email addresses belong to the same user, this feature ensures that each user only needs to manage one account for all of their email addresses.

--Customizable NDR Messages: Bounce message text is now customizable and can be created for virus, spam and banned file notifications for both the sender and recipients.

--Single Sign-On: Enables users to log on to the Barracuda Spam Firewall using their domain passwords.

--SSL (Secure Socket Layer): Now included in the Web interface for enhanced security for new Single Sign-On functionality.

Barracuda Networks also recently announced support for Sender ID Framework included in firmware 3.0. Sender ID Framework, which is currently being considered by the Internet Engineering Task Force for Internet standardization, aims to prevent e-mail domain spoofing and to provide greater protection against spam and phishing schemes through sender authentication. This technology enables the Barracuda Spam Firewall to verify that the message was sent from an authorized email server and deliver or block the message.
