Barracuda Networks Blazes into 2006 with over 30,000 Customers and Expanded Product Portfolio; Company Continues to Experience Unprecedented Growth and Success in Second Full Year of Business.


MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Barracuda Networks Barracuda Networks, Inc. is a privately held company providing firewall products to block e-mail spam, viruses, spyware, load balancing and instant messaging software.

, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class spam firewall solutions, today announced that it saw more than 150 percent increase in its customer roster in the past 12 months, making 2005 another banner year for the company. In addition, the company expanded the breadth and scope of its offerings for customers with the successful introduction of three new products -- the Barracuda barracuda, slender, elongated fish of tropical seas. Barracudas have long snouts and projecting lower jaws armed with large, sharp-edged teeth. --May 2005 -- Service Provider Weekly, the largest circulation weekly aimed at the service provider market in the U.S., named the Barracuda Spam Firewall "Editor's Choice."

--June 2005 -- The Barracuda Spam Firewall was awarded the W2Knews "Tech Target Award" and named "Best Anti-spam Appliance" as voted on by W2Knews readers, comprised of NT/2000/2003 system administrators.

--June 2005 -- Gartner Group included Barracuda Networks in the "Niche Players" section of the 2005 Magic Quadrant on email security boundary solutions. With product shipping for less than two years, this was one of the earliest entries for a company into the esteemed quadrant.

 Magazine named Barracuda Networks one of its top 10 "Channel Stars," sighting the company's "laser-beam focus on channel sales" and highlighting its channel and pricing strategy, as well as rapid and stable growth in the two years the company has been in business.

--September 2005 -- Barracuda Networks was selected to participate in the prestigious DEMOfall 2005 Conference where it announced the Barracuda IM Firewall, the first and only all-in-one instant messaging appliance. Barracuda Networks was one of only 70 companies invited to participate in the conference.

--October 2005 -- The Barracuda Spam Firewall received the "Best Product" award, voted on by executives and directors of technology from organizations attending the CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association See CompTIA. ) annual Enterprise Conference.

--October 2005 -- In a review of four anti-spam appliances, Messaging News praised the Barracuda Spam Firewall for having the most filtering options and highlighted its Web interface as "very easy (to tune) and intuitive."

--November 2005 -- Barracuda Networks took home "Business Hardware Supplier of the Year" at the prestigious Computing Awards out of the UK, beating off strong competition from Aventail, Hitachi Data Systems See HDS. , Lifesize Communications and StorageTek.

--November 2005 -- For the third consecutive year, SC Magazine readers, which encompass IT executives and decision-makers at leading companies worldwide, selected the Barracuda Spam Firewall as a finalist in the anti-spam solutions category of the annual SC Magazine 2005 Awards competition.

In addition, due to its significant increase in employees the company relocated its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., to a larger facility in Mountain View, Calif., as well as opened four regional offices in Japan, Dubai, India and Pakistan.

Earlier this week Barracuda Networks announced it closed its first outside investment of $40 million dollars from Sequoia Capital and Francisco Partners. This investment underscores the successes of the past two years and will enable the company to continue its growth and profitability.
