Barracuda Networks Adds Two Enterprise Models to Barracuda Spyware Firewall Line; Increased Bandwidth Enables Faster Web Communications and Protection Against the Latest Spyware, Malware and Adware Threats.


CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Barracuda Networks, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class spam firewall solutions, today expanded the Barracuda barracuda, slender, elongated fish of tropical seas. Barracudas have long snouts and projecting lower jaws armed with large, sharp-edged teeth. They are ferocious, striking at anything that gleams, and are considered excellent game fishes.  Spyware Firewall line to include two new enterprise models: the Barracuda Spyware Firewall 610 and 810. Featuring greater throughput and higher capacity, the Barracuda Spyware Firewall 610 and 810 models are the ideal solution for large enterprise environments that demand greater bandwidth for Web communications. Barracuda Networks announced the Barracuda Spyware Firewall 210, 310 and 410 models for the SMB market in April 2005.

The Barracuda Spyware Firewall 610 and 810 provide over 200 Mb/sec throughput and both models include hardware redundancy features including RAID disk storage. Both models also include dual gigabit Ethernet ports in addition to the powerful features offered with the Barracuda Spyware Firewall 210, 310 and 410 models. The full Barracuda Spyware Firewall line offers customers a more complete approach to spyware protection by identifying, blocking and preventing spyware downloads using sophisticated techniques and a robust feature set. These features include:

--Blocking spyware downloads (including drive-by downloads)

While spyware and other malware is inherently a devious operation, it is the stealthier self-installing, or "drive-by," spyware downloads that can pose a considerable threat to users. The Barracuda Spyware Firewall utilizes signature-based and rule-based blocking techniques to ensure that all spyware installations, such as .CAB, .OCX (OLE Control EXtension) A component software technology from Microsoft that enables a Windows program to add functionality by calling ready-made components.
