BaroFold, Inc. Appoints J. William Freytag, Ph.D. as President and Chief Executive Officer.


BOULDER, Colo. -- BaroFold, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing "BioBetter" protein therapeutics, announced today the appointment of J. William Freytag, Ph.D. as President and Chief Executive Officer.

As BaroFold's new President and CEO, Dr. Freytag brings more than 25 years of experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Most recently, Dr. Freytag served as Chairman and CEO of Aspreva Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from July 2007 until its merger with Galenica AG in January 2008. Previously, Dr. Freytag served as Chairman and CEO of Myogen, Inc. from July 1998 until it was acquired by Gilead Sciences Gilead Sciences NASDAQ: GILD is a biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes therapeutics to advance the care of patients suffering from life-threatening diseases. , Inc. in November 2006. Prior to Myogen, Dr. Freytag held senior executive roles with Somatogen, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company where he was responsible for corporate and commercial development, and at Boehringer Mannheim Corporation, where he served as President of Research and Development. Dr. Freytag spent 10 years with DuPont Medical Products in various research and business positions. In addition to his role at BaroFold, Dr. Freytag currently serves as the chairman of the board for BiOptix LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.
