In 1964, Barney moved to Worcester and attended Worcester Academy where he was Valedictorian of his Class. Barney graduated MIT MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a BS in physics where he was one of the first inductees into the new chapter of Phi Beta Kappa Phi Beta Kappa: see fraternity.
