RL CARNEGIE CUP FINAL,SATURDAY: WARRINGTON v HUDDERSFIELD

DRUGS cheat winger Richie Barnett Richie Barnett (born 21/4/1971) was a New Zealand rugby league player. He played for the Cronulla Sharks in the NRL competition from 1994 to 1997, before playing a season with the Sydney Roosters.  will support Warrington in Saturday's Carnegie Challenge Cup final.

But the 27-year-old wishes he was walking out at Wembley with his former team-mates.

Barnett tested positive for a performanceenhancing drugs during his Wolves career.

However, he has rebuilt his life with help from the GMB GMB (in Britain) General, Municipal and Boilermakers (Trade Union)  Union and is only six months away from a return to the game.

And the former Gateshead and Hull flyer, who blamed a herbal supplement for his failed dope test, believes he can step straight back into a Super League club.

"It's great to see Warrington in a final after all this time," said Yorkshireman Barnett, who notched 36 tries in 62 games during his previous spells in the top flight.

"I enjoyed my time there, I've still got friends at the club and I wish them all the best.

"It's going to be tough though because Huddersfield have had a great season.

"But I just wish I could help them lift the trophy. It's so frustrating frus·trate

being out of the game for so long. I have kept in shape so when I come back it won't be such a shock.''

"I honestly believe I can come back at Super League level," added Barnett, who was a free agent when his suspension started in February 2008.

"The GMB Union have been great and they're going to circulate all the clubs to let them know I am available.

"I just wish I'd been put in touch with them earlier. I spent a fortune on legal fees because I panicked with my case and it didn't really get me anywhere."

Barnett is now a fullyqualified personal trainer, has a private physiotherapy clinic in Bradford and advises youngsters on health and nutrition at his 'fit camps'.

"I try to educate them at a young age about stuff like supplements. I didn't try to cheat and to this day don't think I should have been banned.''

WARRINGTON will be without utility back Simon Grix and Huddersfield minus Danny Kirmond on Saturday.
