Barnes & Noble.com Expands Barnes & Noble University; New ``Premier'' Courses Added to Popular Free Course Offering.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 2002

Barnes & Noble.com (Nasdaq: BNBN) (www.bn.com) today announced the introduction of "Premier" courses at Barnes & Noble University (www.bn.com/university). Barnes & Noble University has offered hundreds of free online courses to over half a million students in Liberal Arts liberal arts, term originally used to designate the arts or studies suited to freemen. It was applied in the Middle Ages to seven branches of learning, the trivium of grammar, logic, and rhetoric, and the quadrivium of arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music. , Creative Writing, Languages, Life Improvement, Business, and Information Technology since 2000, and was recently named Forbes "Best of the Web" in the continuing education continuing education: see adult education.
