Barnes & Noble, Inc., the nation's largest bookseller, today announced it has signed a lease agreement to open a new superstore in Scottsdale, Arizona Scottsdale (O'odham Vaṣai S-vaṣonĭ) is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States, adjacent to Phoenix. Scottsdale has become internationally recognized as a premier and posh tourist destination, while maintaining its own identity and culture as " . The 30,000-square-foot store, expected to open in March 2003, will be located in the Kierland Commons Kierland Commons is a lifestye center in Phoenix, Arizona directly bordering Scottsdale, Arizona. The community began construction in 1995 and was completed in 2000. The primary developer was Woodbine Development Corporation of Dallas and the development was designed by Nelsen  at the northwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Greenway.

The store's music department will offer more than 25,000 CD, video and DVD titles. Its Red Dot electronic music catalog, a touch-sensitive customer kiosk, features information on the actual location of CDs in the store.
