), the world's largest bookseller, will open a new bookstore on May 18 at 1245 Route 300 (Union Avenue), Newburgh, New York. The store will stock close to 200,000 book, music, DVD DVD: see digital versatile disc.

The public is invited to a Preview Night Party at the new Newburgh Barnes & Noble on Tuesday, May 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. A portion of the Preview Night sales will benefit Literacy Volunteers of America Volunteers of America, national nondenominational organization providing a wide variety of human services as part of a Christian ministry of service. Founded (1896) by Ballington and Maud Booth (see Booth, family) after their withdrawal from the Salvation Army, the , Eastern Orange County, Inc. Costume character, Clifford the Big Red Dog, will be on hand to greet his fans.

--Advanced technology music-listening system. The store's music department will feature RedDotNet, the most advanced listening technology. RedDotNet enables customers to listen to any CD in the store, sampling up to 200,000 music titles by simply passing it under a scanner.
