Barnes & Noble to Open Fayetteville, North Carolina Superstore in Fall 1998.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 1998--Barnes & Noble Inc. today announced it has signed a lease agreement to open a 26,100 square foot store in Fayetteville, North Carolina Fayetteville is a city located in Cumberland County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 121,015. It is the county seat of Cumberland County GR6, and is best known as the home of Fort Bragg, a U.S. . The store, expected to open in late October 1998, will be located in the Glensford Commons Shopping Center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  at the intersection of Glensford Drive and Morganton Road.
