Barnes & Noble today awarded a $500 gift certificate to Glen Head Elementary School elementary school: see school.  Principal Fredda Klopfer in recognition of the winning efforts of Eric Schaffer, a fifth grade student at the school and winner of Barnes & Noble's "Kids' Treasure Hunt." The prize was presented to the Principal by Laurel Laurel, cities, United States
Laurel.

Eric Schaffer submitted his winning entry in this summer's "Kids' Treasure Hunt," a quiz conducted by Barnes & Noble in conjunction with its sponsorship of The New York Public Library's Centennial Celebration exhibit, "The Global Library http://www.nypl.org." As the grand prize winner, he was awarded gift certificates of equal amounts for both himself and the school.

The quiz asked students to answer questions related to the exhibit, which illustrated technological advancements and significant moments in the evolution of written communication. The exhibit offered visitors a guided tour guided tour guide nvisite guidée;

 from the Library's vast collections. The exhibit ran from March 23 to August 17 and was accessible via the Internet or by visiting the Library's main branch at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue.

"We are pleased by the large number of students who chose to participate in this fun and educational contest," said David Hisbrook, Barnes & Noble's Vice President of Marketing. "While we were delighted to work with the Library to bring this exhibit to New Yorkers of all ages, our goal with the contest was to help make the exhibit engaging and memorable for young people in particular."
