), the world's largest bookseller, announced it has signed a lease agreement to open a new Barnes & Noble bookstore in Surprise, Arizona Surprise is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, USA. The population was 30,848 at the 2000 census, however rapid growth has boosted the city's population to 85,914 by the 2006 Census estimates. , which is in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The 25,000-square-foot store, expected to open in May 2005, will be located in the Surprise Marketplace at the corner of Grand Avenue and Bell Road.
